About Us

We are a small group of Tucson based Left Communists. We are college students with a shared interest in studying philosophy, political economy, and history (though none of those descriptions have to apply for you to get involved with us). This is a project we undertook because we believe these ideas need to be discussed and disseminated, and because we find meaning in doing so. We sincerely appreciate anyone who reads our work and cares about the effort we put into it. We aim to slowly build this into a community of sorts. We always want to hear whatever thoughts, comments, reactions, or ideas you might have about our writing.

We find that Left Communism, as a revolutionary tendency of Marxism that highly stresses the not only ineffective but also harmful results of other self proclaimed left wing groups, is at times isolating. Humor is something that we find helps to bridge the gap between different groups in the left; and works to relieve some of the seriousness that comes with this.

Including humor in some sections of our work here does not mean that anything we’re saying is a part of the joke or that this is some massive satire. None of the jokes we make are ironic or satirical. For the sake of being authentic, we instead choose to base our humor on our real beliefs and the absurdity of the world.

We each spent years of our lives in reformist organizations doing work that we truly believed was important at the time. We understand that Left Communism is a relatively niche idea and that most people have to spend time in the reformist left for some time before discovering these ideas. No one is born quoting Bordiga. This is why when we critique reformism as a strategy, we are not making empty remarks. We critique without pulling punches because we wish someone had been there to be honest with us.

Aside from our work here we are also gun owners (if you want to join us sometime at the range), are vegan, enjoy the outdoors, and each of us has unique interests and personalities.

Additionally, we want to include anyone who lives in the Sonoran Desert. We currently only exist in Tucson due to the circumstance of our current members all being here, not an inherent restriction.

If any of this sounds interesting, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We don’t expect anyone to abandon their entire worldview or community in the reformist left in order to join us. At the end of the day, behind our uncompromising beliefs we are understanding and compassionate people who live in the real world and want to make a difference.
